Why the flame will be staying in the stadium: Organisers say they don't want it to be a tourist attraction ?

Olympic organisers said last night that the cauldron would not go on public view because ‘it was not created to be a tourist attraction’.
The comments, by Locog chairman Sebastian Coe, will only inflame the row and further anger those who had hoped to see the famous flame.
The steel and copper cauldron, lit at the opening ceremony on Friday, will not burn above the stadium as at previous Olympics, but will remain inside the Olympic stadium.

Staying put: Olympic officials have said the cauldron will not go view to the general public as they do not want to make it a tourist attraction

Only those who have tickets to see track and field events, held at the venue, will be able to see it.
The Olympic flame is arguably the most photographed Olympic symbol during the Games.
The British public turned out in their droves to see the flame on its journey around the UK during the 70-day torch relay.
