Bottoms Up! 7 New Gay Bars And Clubs To Hit This Summer
Traveling from sea to shining sea for Pride month or Independence Day? Check out some of these fresh, in more ways than one, bars and clubs across the country that are making a splash—or will be when they open:
Chelsea’s gay sports bar Boxers has gone franchise, so to speak, and opened up a second home in Hell’s Kitchen. Catch some rays as you guzzle beer on the roof top terrace (one of the few gay spots you can in New York), or watch a game on the main lounge flatscreens or just chill on the lower-level DogPound.
San Fran welcomed its first out sports bar in December and hit a grand slam: Along with booze, sports and jocks (and the guys that love ‘em all), patrons enjoy classic American grub likes bacon burgers, fried-chicken sandwiches and corn dogs. Hit the bar on Mondays for 25-cent wings all day—our second-favorite way to get stuffed.
Despite complications and financial issues, Krave Massive is still planning to open in June.The former Vegas Strip go-to Krave has evolved into Krave Massive (rendering above), which boasts it will be the world’s largest full-time gay club. Plans include five dance floors, assorted themed rooms, a pool with cabanas, a comedy club and even a movie theater. Throw in a cot and blanket and we’ll have no reason to leave.
Though not officially a gay joint, Rosewood comes from the owners of the queerest place in Philly, Woody’s. (It’s actually right-next door to the gay mainstay, with access back and forth.) For those looking for a more low-key vibe, Rosewood offers artisan cocktails in a dimly lit space filled with leather and dark wood. What gay doesn’t love that?
A chic lounge popular with both boys and girls, Eden sprouted up in December, before its massive rooftop bar could be put to good use. Now folks clamor upstairs for stunning views of the downtown Dallas skyline , then head downstairs for dancing, pool, video games, slot machines and more.
Ten lives a double life: It’s a restaurant by day and gay bar by night, with a menu of all- American eats like sliders, wraps and burgers available until 10pm. (Hence its name.) With an outdoor patio area, Ten is sure to land a perfect score with Hotlanta gays during the coming summer nights.

After more than two decades, Splash—New York’s long-running and legendary gay dance club—is shutting its doors. On Facebook, owner Brian Landache posted a messagethanking patrons for the years they came and partied down.
Over the years, countless pop stars hit the 17th Street landmark to promote their new singles or projects—including Katy Perry, Queen Latifah and Kylie Minogue. And more Broadway stars than we can recount appeared on the stage for the club’s Musical Mondays night.
Once home to the city’s only go-go boy showers, Splash weathered draconian anti-nightlife laws that shuttered other mega clubs, but has suffered now that the gays use hookup apps to connect rather than eye-to-eye bar room contact.
The opening of XL in Hell’s Kitchen last year also drew away the twentysomething and tourist crowds essential to the club’s lifeblood.
Splash will officially close on August 10, so be sure to make your last pilgrimage before then.
